A curbside-pickup solution during the pandemic Culinary Distancing COS
The dilemma: Folks on COVID-19 lockdown longed for food from favorite restaurants. Those shuttered, locally owned restaurants needed ways to stay alive. Enter Culinary Distancing COS on Facebook, a play on words for social distancing. On March 15, Lauren Hug and Matthew Schniper co-founded the online site as an emergency community-networking measure. Local restaurants posted curbside pickup, to-go cocktails, larger family meals and donated meals for hospitals. Food trucks proliferated. People happily shared their food finds. Now the more than 8,400 group members continue to offer recommendations and menus are online.
