Artist Douglas Rouse kicked off his ambitious 12 Mural Project with this intricate painting, which covers the east and west sides of the building. It hit some bumps along the way, but the ever-inventive muralist rallied, including solving funding shortfalls by offering to include likenesses in the mural for $500-$1,500. And 18 months later, it stands as one of the premier works of its kind.
