These trained baby cuddler volunteers have one of the most precious callings anywhere. They rock and cradle and coo to little ones in the neonatal intensive care (NICU) at Children's Hospital Colorado, Colorado Springs. They're there to snuggle premature, sick and opioid-exposed newborns when parents or guardians need a break. Pediatric nurses say the program, coordinated by honored longtime volunteer Bruce Erickson, known as the Baby Whisperer, helps babies relax and rest when that cuddler human contact is there.
