Sticks and Stone

Last fall, my dog, Stone, limped in from a yard-digging session with a split and bloody toe claw. I described the injury to my vet and was told it likely would require a surgical fix, with anesthesia and a hefty bill. I then called Republic of Paws, a pet store that also offers grooming services. They weren’t open yet, but the phone was answered and I was told to bring my dog in. I mistakenly went to the Old Colorado City retail location, found the door locked, and was heading back to my car when an employee chased me down and sent me in the right direction. A half hour and $10 later, Stone was manicured, limp-free and back home … wondering why his hole was suddenly filled with dirt.
