Mashburn/Marshall Tactile Gallery, Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center at Colorado College
Lean too close or - gasp! - touch the art at most museums and you'll likely earn a rebuke or trip an alarm. Such rules are on hold at The Tactile Gallery, where touching the art isn't just allowed, it's encouraged. Founded in 1981 as a way to help bring the gallery experience to those who are sight-impaired, blind or have special needs, the free gallery has more than 100 sculptural pieces, of various media, in a large, accessible space adjacent to the Fine Arts Center's lobby.
